Several Trips to the South of France (Part 1) – Nice

When: October 2012, September 2013, April 2018
Distance from home: About 865 miles
Length of adventure: A couple of days

Details: We have been to the South of France on three occasions on our own and with my parents. Twice we stayed in Nice and once we stayed in Villefranche-sur-Mer.

One of the great things about staying in Nice is that you have the entire French Riviera on your door step. There is a brilliant cheap and efficient train service that runs from the Italian border on past Cannes.

This is the first part in a series of I think 5 about our adventures on the Cote d’Azur. As we have based our self in Nice twice I will start there.

Nice is a really lovely town with a beautiful old town which has an excellent market and some brilliant restaurants. It is lovely to march along the palm tree lined Promenade des Anglais. There is a beach but it is pretty busy so went down the coast a bit to paddle in the sea. We spent most of our time eating and drinking in the old town however we did get the bus to the Musee Matisse which was a really lovely morning.
